Timed Mines are generally considered the easiest to get a completion with, since all that is required is shooting all the guards and placing the mines correctly. The disadvantages is the lag time between placement and explosion often results in you being hit by the drone.

On the paper, this level appears very hard. However, that's not true. The level can be done either with or without the tank. The tank helps as you can afford to get hit three times without dying instead of the usual "one-shot, one-kill"-scenario or if you don't like using the tank then you can use the timed mines or grenades instead to destroy the drone guns.
Grenades strategies play out similarly, but are tougher since you need to time the throws such that the explosion is at the right point.

If you just trying for a completion then pick up the timed mines in the starting area.

Exit the starting area and head to the guard hut; watch out for the patrol outside.

In the guard hut you can crouch below the table and won't get hit immediately. This might be slightly faster than carefully eliminating guards. The fastest method is to run in and pickup the key without dealing with the guards and hope for good attack animations, but this will require many resets.

=== Non-tank method ===

Run out from the guard hut to the left. While running, you want to take out the guard on the opposite side of the runway. When you get to the left edge, take care of the guard at the barrels. At this point there's a chance a patrol guard can spawn near the first turret so watch out.

Continue up the left side. There will be a guard in the cubby area on the left. You'll need to take care of him and then stop to eliminate the guard opposite the runway.

Peak out of the cubby and continue to the first drone gun. Drop a timed mine on the drone and switch to a weapon. Peak out and kill the close left guard, start running to the back left drone gun. As you start running, you'll have to turn and eliminate the last guard which is to the left of the missile battery. Around this time the mine on the first drone gun should go off.

Run up the left side of the mountain and throw a mine on the drone gun. Continue to the last drone gun and throw a mine on it.

At this point the guards will have respawned and will be making their way up the runway. Run to the plane so it will provide some cover between you and guards, and throw a mine on to the battery. If you picked up a Kf7 you can scope in and blow up the mine early. Otherwise, get as close to the plane as possible and watch for guards, they will be running up the far side of the runway along your initial path.

If all goes well the missile battery will explode and you can leave on the plane.

The Tank benefits from allowing Bond to take 3 hits before dying and shooting targets from further away. The manoeuvrability is a disadvantages and it is harder to see guards in general.

This is a tutorial for Goldeneye 007. For an outline of the strategies used in this tutorial, see the main level page.

Overview

Runway is a short, but quite technical level. Actions must be performed relatively quickly due to spawning guards from the Facility, who pose the biggest single issue. The level requires a fairly unique skillset, since it involves throwing grenades, timed mines, or using the tank. As such, its relative difficulty amongst LTK level is highly debatable. It's certainly neither the hardest nor easiest.

General Completion Notes

Level Opening

Timed mines are located next to a Patrolling guard behind your starting position. Grenades are found in crates right next to the start.

Spawning Guards

When you get a certain distance down the runway, guards will spawn behind you and chase you. This means once this threshold is breached, you must execute all your manoeuvres reasonably quickly.

The trigger point is roughly when the snow ends and runway starts. It is possible with the Tank to complete the Missile Battery and eliminate the nearest drone before you reach this point, however you do risk alerting guards, particularly on the latter.

Distance Shooting

Visibility is often poor on the Runway, however if you know roughly where the guards are, then the strong auto-aim of the PP7 is incredibly useful

Timed Mines / Grenades / Tank

This level requires explosives, and all have their advantages.

Timed Mines are generally considered the easiest to get a completion with, since all that is required is shooting all the guards and placing the mines correctly. The disadvantages is the lag time between placement and explosion often results in you being hit by the drone.

Grenades strategies play out similarly, but are tougher since you need to time the throws such that the explosion is at the right point.

The Tank benefits from allowing Bond to take 3 hits before dying and shooting targets from further away. The manoeuvrability is a disadvantages and it is harder to see guards in general.
